Complete guide to viewing, tracking, and managing your assessments

Assessments Overview

The Assessments page is your central hub for all assignment-related information. It provides multiple views and powerful filtering options to help you stay on top of your academic workload.

Accessing Assessments

Navigate to Assessments from:

  • Sidebar Menu: Click "Assessments" in the navigation sidebar
  • Dashboard: Click "Upcoming Assessments" widget
  • Direct URL: /assessments

Assessment Views

DesQTA offers four different views for your assessments:

List View (Default)

A traditional list format showing all assessments in chronological order.

Features:

  • Sortable columns (Due Date, Subject, Status)
  • Expandable rows for details
  • Quick action buttons
  • Color-coded by subject

Best For:

  • Quick scanning of all assessments
  • Finding specific assessments
  • Viewing detailed information

Board View (Kanban)

A visual board layout organized by status (To Do, In Progress, Completed, Overdue).

Features:

  • Drag-and-drop between columns
  • Visual progress tracking
  • Quick status updates
  • Subject color indicators

Best For:

  • Visual learners
  • Project management style tracking
  • Quick status updates

Calendar View

A calendar layout showing assessments on their due dates.

Features:

  • Monthly calendar view
  • Day/week/month navigation
  • Color-coded by subject
  • Click dates to see assessments

Best For:

  • Planning ahead
  • Seeing due dates in context
  • Time management

Gantt View

A timeline view showing assessment duration and dependencies.

Features:

  • Timeline visualization
  • Duration bars
  • Overlapping assessment view
  • Zoom controls

Best For:

  • Long-term planning
  • Seeing assessment overlap
  • Project timeline visualization

Switching Views

Use the view selector buttons at the top of the page:

  • List: Traditional list format
  • Board: Kanban board layout
  • Calendar: Calendar view
  • Gantt: Timeline view

Your preferred view is saved automatically.

Filtering Assessments

Subject Filter

Filter assessments by subject:

  1. Click the subject filter dropdown
  2. Select subjects to include (or "All Subjects")
  3. Assessments update automatically

Multiple Selection:

  • Hold Ctrl/Cmd to select multiple subjects
  • Click "Select All" to include all subjects
  • Click "Clear" to reset

Year Filter

Filter assessments by academic year:

  1. Click the year selector
  2. Choose a year from the dropdown
  3. Only assessments from that year are shown

Available Years:

  • Current year (default)
  • Previous years
  • Future years (if any)

Status Filter

Filter by assessment status:

  • All: Show all assessments
  • Upcoming: Not yet due
  • Due Soon: Due within 7 days
  • Overdue: Past due date
  • Completed: Finished assessments
  • Graded: Assessments with grades

Group By Options

Organize assessments by:

  • Subject: Group by subject
  • Month: Group by due date month
  • Status: Group by completion status

Assessment Details

Click any assessment to view full details:

Basic Information

  • Title: Assessment name
  • Subject: Course/subject
  • Due Date: When it's due
  • Status: Current status
  • Code: Assessment code

Detailed Information

  • Description: Full assessment description
  • Instructions: How to complete it
  • Attachments: Files and resources
  • Rubric: Grading criteria (if available)
  • Expectations: Learning expectations
  • Reflections: Reflection prompts

Grade Information

  • Final Grade: Your grade (if graded)
  • Feedback: Teacher feedback
  • Grade Breakdown: Component scores

Assessment Actions

Mark as Complete

  1. Find the assessment
  2. Click the checkbox or "Mark Complete" button
  3. Assessment moves to completed status

View Submission

  1. Click "View Submission" button
  2. See what you've submitted
  3. View submission date and time

Download Attachments

  1. Open assessment details
  2. Click attachment name
  3. File downloads automatically

Add to Calendar

Export assessment due dates to your calendar:

  1. Click "Add to Calendar" button
  2. Choose calendar format (ICS)
  3. Import into your calendar app

Grade Predictions

DesQTA includes AI-powered grade predictions (if enabled):

Viewing Predictions

  1. Navigate to Assessments page
  2. Look for "Grade Predictions" widget
  3. See predicted grades based on:
    • Historical performance
    • Current grades
    • Assessment difficulty

Prediction Factors

Predictions consider:

  • Your past performance in the subject
  • Current course grades
  • Assessment type and weight
  • Class average (if available)

Note: Predictions are estimates only and should not replace actual study effort.

Assessment Reminders

Enabling Reminders

  1. Go to Settings → Notifications
  2. Enable "Assessment Reminders"
  3. Set reminder timing (e.g., 1 day before, 3 days before)

Reminder Types

  • Due Soon: Reminders for upcoming assessments
  • Overdue: Alerts for overdue assessments
  • New Assessment: Notifications when new assessments are added

Tips for Managing Assessments

Stay Organized

  • Check assessments daily
  • Use the calendar view for planning
  • Set up reminders for important assessments

Use Filters

  • Filter by subject when focusing on specific courses
  • Use status filters to prioritize work
  • Group by month for long-term planning

Track Progress

  • Use board view to visualize progress
  • Mark assessments complete as you finish them
  • Review overdue assessments regularly

Plan Ahead

  • Use calendar view to see upcoming weeks
  • Export due dates to your calendar
  • Use Gantt view for complex planning

Troubleshooting

Missing Assessments

  • Check subject filters aren't hiding them
  • Verify year filter is correct
  • Refresh the page
  • Check SEQTA directly to confirm

Incorrect Due Dates

  • Due dates come from SEQTA
  • Contact teacher if date seems wrong
  • Refresh to get latest data

Grades Not Showing

  • Grades appear after teacher marks assessment
  • Check if assessment is marked as graded
  • Verify SEQTA permissions

View Not Saving

  • Check browser/local storage permissions
  • Clear cache and try again
  • Check for app updates
