Setting up DesQTA for the first time

Welcome to DesQTA

When you first launch DesQTA, you'll be greeted with a clean, modern interface designed to help you get started quickly.

Initial Setup Screen

The first launch experience guides you through:

  1. Welcome Message - Brief introduction to DesQTA
  2. Login Screen - Where you'll enter your SEQTA credentials
  3. Onboarding Tour - Interactive guide to key features (after login)

Entering Your SEQTA URL

Before you can log in, you need to provide your school's SEQTA Learn URL:

Finding Your SEQTA URL

Your SEQTA URL typically follows one of these formats:

  • yourschool.seqtalearn.com
  • seqta.yourschool.edu.au
  • learn.yourschool.com

Where to find it:

  • Ask your school's IT department
  • Check your school's website
  • Look at your existing SEQTA login page URL
  • Check emails from your school about SEQTA

Entering the URL

  1. In the login screen, locate the "SEQTA URL" field
  2. Type your school's SEQTA URL (without https:// or http://)
  3. Example: myschool.seqtalearn.com
  4. Press Enter or click "Next"

Important:

  • Don't include https:// or http://
  • Don't include trailing slashes
  • Use the exact URL format your school uses

Login Options

After entering your SEQTA URL, you'll see login options:

Traditional Login (Recommended)

The standard way to log in:

  1. Click the "Login" button
  2. A browser window will open
  3. Log in with your SEQTA credentials in the browser
  4. DesQTA automatically detects your login
  5. The browser window closes automatically
  6. You're logged into DesQTA!

Why this method:

  • Uses SEQTA's official login system
  • Secure and familiar
  • Works with all SEQTA authentication methods
  • Supports two-factor authentication (if enabled)

QR Code Login (If Available)

Some schools support QR code authentication:

  1. Click "QR Code Login" option
  2. Open SEQTA Learn mobile app on your phone
  3. Navigate to QR code login in the app
  4. Scan the QR code displayed in DesQTA
  5. Approve login on your phone
  6. DesQTA authenticates automatically

Requirements:

  • SEQTA mobile app installed
  • QR code login enabled by your school
  • Phone and computer on same network (usually)

First Login Process

Step-by-Step

  1. Enter SEQTA URL → Type your school's URL
  2. Choose Login Method → Traditional or QR Code
  3. Authenticate → Complete login in browser/app
  4. Wait for Sync → DesQTA loads your data
  5. Onboarding Begins → Interactive tour starts

What Happens During First Login

DesQTA performs several setup tasks:

  • Session Creation - Establishes secure session with SEQTA
  • Data Sync - Downloads your timetable, assessments, courses
  • Preferences Load - Loads your SEQTA preferences (colors, etc.)
  • Cache Setup - Sets up local caching for faster access
  • Settings Initialization - Creates default settings

Time: This usually takes 10-30 seconds depending on your connection.

Onboarding Tour

After successful login, you'll see an interactive onboarding tour that introduces:

    • What the dashboard is
    • Key widgets and their purposes
    • How to navigate
  2. Navigation Sidebar
    • All available sections
    • How to access different features
    • Quick navigation tips
  3. Key Features
    • Assessments management
    • Timetable views
    • Messaging system
    • Settings and customization
  4. Customization
    • Themes and appearance
    • Widget configuration
    • Quick links setup

Navigating the Tour

  • Next → Continue to next section
  • Skip → Skip remaining sections
  • Back → Go to previous section
  • Finish → Complete tour and start using DesQTA

Tip: You can always restart the tour later from Settings → Onboarding.

Post-Login Checklist

After logging in, verify everything is working:

  • Dashboard loads correctly
  • Timetable shows your classes
  • Assessments are visible
  • Sidebar navigation works
  • Settings are accessible

If anything seems wrong, try:

  1. Refresh the page (F5 or Cmd+R)
  2. Check your internet connection
  3. Verify SEQTA URL is correct
  4. Try logging out and back in

Common First Launch Issues

"Cannot connect to SEQTA"

Possible causes:

  • Incorrect SEQTA URL
  • Internet connection issues
  • SEQTA server is down
  • Firewall blocking connection

Solutions:

  • Double-check the URL format
  • Test SEQTA in a regular browser
  • Check internet connection
  • Contact school IT if SEQTA is down

"Login window doesn't open"

Solutions:

  • Check pop-up blocker settings
  • Allow pop-ups for DesQTA
  • Try clicking Login button again
  • Check browser permissions

"QR code not working"

Solutions:

  • Ensure mobile app is updated
  • Check QR code login is enabled by school
  • Ensure phone and computer on same network
  • Try traditional login instead

"Onboarding tour doesn't start"

Solutions:

  • This is optional - you can skip it
  • Restart tour from Settings → Onboarding
  • Refresh the page
  • Check browser console for errors

Skipping Onboarding

If you want to skip the onboarding tour:

  1. Click "Skip Tour" button
  2. Or click "Skip" on any tour step
  3. You'll go directly to the dashboard
  4. You can restart it anytime from Settings
